A virtual office is not the first thing many people think of when they explore opening an office in New York City. In fact, many people have never heard of the concept before and are unsure of how a virtual office could work for their business.

Companies in myriad industries benefit from our services, and in the following case studies we will illustrate how some of our clients have used our Manhattan virtual offices.

Case Study 1: Adam

Adam has an established consulting business based out of Atlanta. He wants to expand into New York City, but the costs of an office there are daunting, and the hotel lobby or local coffee shop do not portray the gravitas or permanence that his business demands.

Adam only plans to be in the New York occasionally, and is in the market for a satellite office to store some sales materials, receive mail, and have the occasional meeting. He plans to dedicate 10 hours per month towards meeting existing clients in New York and developing new ones.

Adam's Need Analysis:

Currently Adam does not have much business in the New York Area, but he has been quite successful at developing new clients in his home region, and is looking forward to developing new client relationships in New York.

While Adam has a successful business already, he is hesitant to expand too quickly and is looking to have a modest presence in New York. Of primary importance to Adam is a prestigious mailing address, a place to store some sales materials, and a central location where he can meet clients in a professional environment.

Adam was initially looking at leasing a small office, but was nervous about the multi-year lease that was required, and did not want to have to hire a full-time employee to answer his phone and handle any mail that arrived or clients who came by unexpectedly.

For Adam, we suggested that he take a look at our Premium Virtual Office plan. This plan would offer him the presence that he needs in New York City, as well as provide him with a centrally located office and professional environment to meet his clients.

Below you can see a cost comparison of leasing his own space vs. taking a Premium Virtual Office from 21st Century Offices.

Adam found an office near Grand Central that was approximately 260 sqft. The rent was $1200 per month, and he was responsible for utilities.
Since this was a small satellite office and it was Adam's first foray into New York, he did not furnish it lavishily, and saw no need to hire a full-time employee to answer his phone or forward his mail.

Case Study 2: Anthony

Anthony is a CPA who has worked for many years as the Controller for a New York based Hedge Fund. While working at the Hedge Fund, Anthony has pursued his dream of building a practice to provide bookkeeping accounting, tax preparation, and financial advisory services to small businesses and individuals.

Anthony began his practice three-and-a-half years ago, working in the evenings while keeping his day job.

When Anthony started with us, he was quite price sensitive as he had a small client roster and the future of the venture was still uncertain. To accommodate his needs, we built a special package for him, giving him access to our offices in the evenings so he could meet his clients after work.

As the years passed, and as Anthony was ready to devote more time to his practice, he moved into one of our executive suites, and now maintains a full-time office with us.

According to Anthony, it would have been impossible for him to build his practice into what it is today without a virtual office. Not only has the office space been great, but the use of a New York City mailing address has been priceless.

In addition to providing Anthony with a fully furnished and serviced office in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, he also makes use of our space to house additional staff that is brought in on a part-time basis to help with large projects and marketing efforts.

By allowing Anthony to be flexible in the use of our space, he is able to utilize only the space that he needs, when he needs it.
